Tafara Makopa, one of the leading lights in the rapidly-growing digital-first content creation community, is leaving production company Wall of Entertainment. At time of writing, there is no further information about his immediate plans.
In a short statement, Wall of Entertainment said: “We want to share an important leadership update. Managing director, Tafara Makopa, has stepped down from his role at the company. Leadership will continue under the founders, Joivan Wade and Percelle Ascott, who remain committed to driving the company’s growth. We acknowledge and thank Taf for the positive contributions made during his time with us and wish him the best in his future endeavours.”
Makopa is a well-known thought-leader in the industry, having attended all editions of the TellyCast Digital Content Forum as an insightful panellist and commentator. In recent news, he launched the MAKO Foundation, a new initiative aimed at improving livelihoods in under-represented and economically disadvantaged communities in Leicester and Zimbabwe. The foundation’s purpose is to reduce barriers to entry in the creative industries by providing targeted education, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
Under Makopa’s stewardship, Wall Of Entertainment has developed a strong slate of entertainment formats. Prominent among them is prank show Tapped Out, which was recently given a celebrity edition by Channel 4. Other formats include £20k Play, a five-part series for Channel 4.0.
Wall of Entertainment is on the shortlist for Studio Of The Year award at the first ever Digital Video Awards, to be held in London in June 2025. The company has also racked up a series of DVA nominations for its individual shows.
