After tense days of will-they-won’t-they, TellyCast Digital Content Forum delegates can breathe a sigh of relief: the planned 24-hour strike by London Underground drivers has been called off as the Aslef union has suspended its planned industrial action following productive talks with Transport for London (TfL) over pay.
The union, which represents tube drivers, had scheduled two full-day walkouts: one this Thursday and another next Tuesday. However, Aslef has now confirmed it received a “significantly improved” pay offer from TfL, and union reps will meet on Thursday to review the details with members.
Claire Mann from TfL emphasised that the offer was crafted with London’s needs in mind, calling it “fair, affordable, good for our colleagues and good for London.” She encouraged further collaboration with the union to ensure ongoing stability for the city’s transport network.
Meanwhile, the RMT union also recently called off its strike plans after receiving a separate offer from TfL, marking a positive shift in negotiations for London commuters.
For now, London’s tube network remains in action, giving the city and the event a much-needed break from disruption and delegates have the green light to network, learn and and pitch at the Digital Content Forum.
