Stop Press: TikTok to be banned in the US from Sunday

by | Jan 17, 2025 | News

The US Supreme Court has upheld the US ban on TikTok.

This means the platform will ceased to function in the US on Sunday January 19 unless it sells to a US owner – or new President Donald Trump chooses to intervene. The Court said: “We conclude that the challenged provisions do not violate petitioners’ First Amendment rights”. At time of writing TikTok has 170 million users in the US.
