The FAST channel market in Poland is heating up, with news that public broadcaster TVP (Polish Television) is planning to launch around 20 channels across this year.
The first channel will go live on April 14 and will be based around long-running hit series Na dobre i na złe (For Better and For Worse). Centring on the experiences of the staff and patients of the Leśna Góra, hospital, the show regularly hits audiences of 2m on linear TV. The new FAST channel will feature 500 library episodes, produced over the last 25 years.
Tomasz Sygut, CEO of TVP, said: “By introducing the first FAST channel on TVP’s streaming platform, we are meeting the expectations and needs of our audiences and opening a new chapter in the strategy of personalising content.”
The channel will be available on the TVP VOD platform at vod.tvp.pl, in the TVP VOD mobile application on phones and tablets with iOS and Android systems, as well as on any supported smart TV. The channel will be available only in Poland.
TVP is not the first to market in Poland. Commercial rival TVN has around 15 channels in genres including cooking, reality, and motoring – launched in early 2024. Rakuten TV and VIDAA Channels have also been early movers in the market.
The FAST market has been expanding rapidly in North America, the UK, Western Europe and Australia. But with the continued roll out of Connected TV sets, and the ad revenue that follows, Eastern Europe, Southern Europe and Asia are also growing in importance.
