It has been another frantic week in the world of FAST channel launches, with ITV Studios, BBC Studios and Paramount Global all rolling out channels.
In the UK, ITV Studios has secured a deal with Virgin Media O2 which will see Hell’s Kitchen and Eggheads FAST channels land on the Virgin TV platform.
David Bouchier, chief TV and entertainment officer at Virgin Media O2, said: “The expansion of our streaming channel offering is brilliant news for our customers. Reality TV doesn’t just entertain us, but tests our knowledge, gives us something to chat about for those water cooler moments, and most importantly, brings TV fans together.”
Meanwhile BBC Studios will see three of its channels feature on Spanish streaming service Tivify. These include single IP channels Doctor Who and Top Gear, and genre-based channel BBC drama. The latter offers a wide catalogue of British shows including Misfits and Mistresses. Kasia Jablonska, director of digital and on-demand EMEA at BBC Studios, said: “The expansion of our FAST channel brands is a testament to the quality of BBC Studios extensive content catalogue.”
Finally, Paramount Global has joined forces with life coach and self-help author Tony Robbins to launch a FAST channel on Pluto TV, Prime Video, Plex and Roku. The new project was unveiled at NATPE and will feature programming spanning more than four decades. The plan is for the channel to launch this summer.
