Fremantle’s LA-based factual label Original Productions hands has entrusted Brian Lovett with a new role as head of content strategy. The move is the latest indicator of how TV production companies are shifting towards a platform neutral business model.
Lovett joined the firm in 2018 as EVP of programming and development, and has enjoyed success securing greenlights from streaming platforms. In his newly-created role, he will oversee the creation and expansion of content across all platforms, including FAST, AVOD, YouTube and social media. In addition, Lovett has been tasked with unearthing opportunities for brand partnerships across the OP portfolio.
Original Productions president Jeff Hasler called Lovett “a proven leader who has been at the forefront of building our direct-to-consumer business alongside our linear and streaming businesses. Brian will further utilise his visionary approach and storytelling skills to bring our shows to viewers across multiple platforms.”
The appointment builds on Original’s pre-existing moves into digital first. These include YouTube-first series High in the Sky and the Rig TV FAST channel. Rig TV includes established franchises including Monster Garage, Jay Leno’s Garage, Black Gold, Swords: Life on the Line, Monster House and Wild Justice.
