UK-based Electrify Video Partners has invested in leading aviation YouTube channels Mentour Pilot and Mentour Now. Electrify said the strategic partnership demonstrates its “continued commitment to investing in informative and inspirational creators”.
Mentour Pilot, known for its engaging and in-depth content about commercial aviation, has garnered a significant following among aviation enthusiasts and aspiring pilots – and currently has around 2 million subscribers. Launched in 2015, the channel offers a blend of technical knowledge, behind-the-scenes insights, and real-world experiences from the perspective of airline pilot Petter Hörnfeldt. Sister channel Mentour Now launched in 2021 and provides a weekly perspective on aviation news.
Electrify, which is dedicated to investing in and scaling digital creator businesses, said the channel has the potential to become the leading global franchise in aviation education and entertainment. Through its investment, the company aims to support its continued growth and expansion, enabling it to develop innovative content formats, reach new audiences, and expand beyond YouTube into other opportunities.
Ian Shepherd, co-founder and co-CEO of Electrify Video Partners, said: “Electrify will bring a wealth of expertise, data-driven insights, and industry experience to the table. We’re excited to work closely with the creator and team to scale the business, explore new opportunities, and transform Mentour Pilot into a global aviation media franchise, all while maintaining the authenticity and quality content that fans love.”
Mentour founder Petter Hörnfeldt said the partnership will “give me access to a bigger team, which means I can create more content, and even better content for my audience, whilst continuing to grow the Mentour Pilot brand.”
Electrify said the investment aligns with its strategy of identifying exceptional creators and helping them reach their full potential. It follows previous investments in other channels such as Veritasium, Simple History and Astrum. On LinkedIn, the company says it has an investment funding of around $85 million.
