Mediaite, the news website founded by Dan Abrams, has announced plans for a major investment in a new YouTube channel and accompanying video operation. The ramping up of activity will involve launching new shows and inking deals with media talent.
A new video iteration of the daily Dan Abrams Show on SiriusXM, featuring commentary and interviews from Abrams, as well as content designed specifically with the YouTube audience in mind, will headline the new video offering.
The new Mediaite YouTube channel will also features Spin Room, which will air twice each week and is hosted by Jesse Weber. Spin Room tackles the media and political topics of the week in a fun, rollicking format similar to Sidebar — a hit show on legal and true crime network Law&Crime that is also hosted by Weber.
Colby Hall, Mediaite’s founding editor, will host and produce videos for the channel. Joe DePaolo, Mediaite’s co-managing editor, will serve as the executive producer of both Spin Room and the video version of The Dan Abrams Show.
The Mediaite channel will also feature original shows, news and opinion, live commentary on major political events, and video podcasts like Mediaite editor in chief Aidan McLaughlin’s weekly interview show Press Club.
The expansion of Mediaite is modelled on the growth of Law&Crime, which Abrams launched and then sold in a nine-figure deal in 2023. Abrams called this “the biggest initiative for Mediaite since its launch in 2009. YouTube is the future for politics and news content and Mediaite is positioned perfectly to be a leader in the space.”
