Channel 4 and Vinted are joining forces for a new series of Second-Hand Showdown, a cross-platform factual entertainment series that focuses on second-hand style.
The new season of the branded entertainment series will debut on August 12 on YouTube and E4, with new episodes dropping until 16 September. The series order comprises 6 x 12-minute episodes for Channel 4’s YouTube channel, and 6 x 25-minute episodes to TX on E4 and stream on Channel 4. Shorter edits of each episode will also be released across Channel 4 and E4’s social accounts.
This decision to greenlight a second series follows strong audience figures for the previous run. All told, the first series had over 6 million views across Channel 4’s YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and VoD streaming platforms.
Fronted by Vicky Pattison (pictured), the series sees two guests eager for a bold new style enter a pre-loved pop up. Enter competing stylists Sabrina Grant and Joey Bevan who face the challenge of creating fresh looks, using only second-hand fashion. However each guest can only choose one stylists’ collection to keep – the other wardrobe will be relisted on Vinted so all items can find new homes. Will Joey or Sabrina win?
Rupinder Downie, content solutions leader at Channel 4, said: “Debuting on digital before living on E4 demonstrates the breadth of touch points that Channel 4 can offer brands and aligns with our fast forward strategy.”
Linas Paulikas, reach media director at Vinted, added: “The evolution of Second-Hand Showdown has been fantastic, as we celebrate not only second-hand fashion, but also the people who engage with second-hand fashion. Last year’s series came at a time when conscious consumption was at an all time high, and we were thrilled to see content that inspires viewers to use Vinted and unleash the potential of their wardrobes. This year we have extended that messaging, showing how the platform can not only extend an item’s life-cycle but also rejuvenate someone’s style.”
Second-Hand Showdown is produced by Belfast-based Stellify Media. The series was commissioned for E4 and Channel 4 by Mel Bezalel, E4 commissioning editor, and Laura Marks, digital commissioning editor. Second-Hand Showdown series two was created in a partnership between Channel 4 and Vinted’s media agency, Mindshare.
Second-Hand Showdown is one of a slew of branded entertainment recommissions following The British Summer Survival Guide with Boots, and Existential Cats with Ever Clean. Other C4 branded entertainment projects include Underground: Shave Club, presented by Daisy Maskell, and comedy Tiny Day Trippers (with Dairylea).
