Production company After Party Studios has unveiled fresh new digital work for EA SPORTS FC through creative partner COPA90. Celebrating EA SPORTS FC Football Ultimate Team’s 16th birthday, the content will run across EA’s digital channels.

The brand film sees Emmy-nominated actor Toheeb Jimoh, who plays Sam Obisanya in worldwide hit show Ted Lasso, cook up and painstakingly decorate a giant cake for EA SPORTS FC FUT’s milestone birthday only for it to be blown to bits moments later. Football icon David Beckham gets in on the action to give his tongue-in-cheek verdict.

Directed by Edie Amos, who has shot the likes of Stormzy, Coldplay and Little Simz, the shoot features a 20kg cake that took food stylists three days to make. Working with an SFX team to safely pack it with dynamite, the team captured the explosion on super slow motion cameras, which took less than one second in real time.

RVBBERDUCK, aka Ben Doyle, co-founder at After Party Studios, said: “What a privilege it is to create this film for culture-defining EA SPORTS FC sweet 16. Could there be a better way to celebrate than with the legendary Toheeb Jimoh and David Beckham? I suspect not. The work that went into delivering this creative with COPA90 IRL cannot be overstated, nor can the subsequent clean up operation…”
