In the latest example of elite sport collaborating with social talent, the NFL and YouTube have announced plans for a flag football showdown between two of the most popular creators in the world, iShowSpeed and Kai Cenat. The two stars will lead teams of creators and musical artists in a flag football game on Saturday February 8, just one day before the NFL’s annual mega-event the Super Bowl.
The live game will take place at 8pm Central Time in New Orleans, with tickets to attend starting at $40. The contest will also be live streamed on the NFL and iShowSpeed YouTube channels, which have 13.9m and 35.9m subs respectively.
The NFL shared a video of its commissioner Roger Goodell inviting iShowSpeed to play in New Orleans. This video alone has already clocked up 58K views in just four days. In the video, Goodall tells iShowSpeed “we’re looking for two of the best to be part of this (flag football) game”. Speed responds by challenging Kai Cenat.
Sport/social media mash up are on a roll right now, with The Sidemen and Jake Paul also involved in prominent sports-themed collaborations.
