Lime Pictures digital creative director Alan Toner is leaving the Liverpool-based production company to take up a new position as social channels lead at Channel 4’s 4Studio. Toner, who has been with Lime for 8.5 years, said: “Sometimes, opportunities in life come that you can’t turn down and this was one.”
In his new role, Toner will be reporting to Channel 4’s head of social, Diane Glynn. Breaking the news via LinkedIn, he said: “I will move to Channel 4 in the new year, to join as social channels lead in the leadership team at 4Studio. I have always been a huge fan of #Channel4 and the incredible work that #4Studio do, since we started working together in 2019. To be an official member of the team is a privilege and I’m so excited to be reunited and reporting into my former boss (Glynn) once again.”
Toner is already familiar with Channel 4 via collaborations on projects like Hollyoaks. Last week, he posted that Lime and 4Studio had won a Silver and the Peoples Award in Social Content Series-Culture and Entertainment at the Lovie Awards for Hollyoaks – Ode To My Juliet. Other recent projects include Rob Beckett’s Big Hollyoaks Catch-Up, commissioned by Channel 4’s Ben Wadey and streamed on YouTube.
Toner expressed his sadness at leaving Lime: “Anyone who knows me knows how much I adore this team. Your tireless efforts and dedication to infusing values into our storytelling are why I’m passionate about our work. To all the teams at Hollyoaks, TOWIE, Celebs Go Dating, Lime Kids, Lion and Wise Owl, thank you for teaching me so much. To everyone in front of and behind the camera, you’re all incredible!”
Prior to joining Lime, Toner was at ITV Studios where he worked on Coronation Street. Before that he spent five years as a radio presenter on Galaxy 102FM.
