The Sidemen Story, a documentary about the social media superstars, has been acquired by Netflix.
It is the debut project from Luke Hyams’ production company Pangaea. Hyams was formerly YouTube’s EMEA content chief.
The documentary, announced by Hyams on LinkedIn, follows the Sidemen’s journey of friendship, ambition, and perseverance over a decade, with behind-the-scenes footage and interviews from the group, commentators, and industry sources. It is directed by Hyams and produced by Sunita Mirchandani Hyams, co-founder of Pangaea, with Arcade Media also attached.
The Sidemen, a group composed of web personalities KSI, Miniminter, Zerkaa, TBJZL, Behzinga, Vikkstar123, and W2 have attracted over 100 million subscribers across various platforms, including nearly 21 million on their YouTube channel. Their content is primarily comprised of challenges, games, and video game reactions and the group has also branched out into licensed products including XIX Vodka, the Sides fried chicken restaurant chain and a hotel development as well as their own line of branded merchandise.
The documentary is set to launch on February 14 on Netflix in the UK, with international distribution rights held by Fifth Season, according to Deadline. Check out the trailer below;
